From Your President

June 2009

To make a long story short from your President!

I can’t believe that it’s June already, where has this year gone? I finally figured it out! Time flies by so fast due to the great times we are having in our Corvettes. For some of our members time flies by even faster at triple digit speeds!

WOW what a day!!!! Our Dyno Day event on April 25th was one Wild Time. Twenty four club members showed up to see how much power their Corvettes really put to the ground. Some of our club members were happy with the results and others were really, really bummed. We even had a guy come in off the street to have his Corvette Dyno’ed. He had heard through the grapevine that about a million Corvettes were being Dyno’ed at Advanced Racing Dynamics.

Halfway through the event most of the members in attendance were asking when the next Dyno Day event will be. They want the event to be a semi-annual affair so they can see the real results of their modifications. Who will earn the top bragging rights at the next event? Will it be YOU?

It was great to see how our cars performed from stock to highly modified and everything in between. The C6 Corvettes with the LS-3 engines have a great stock baseline horsepower. Jeb Jonas’s stock Corvette base lined at 368.58 HP and 360.01 TQ. Roland’s C6 produced 387.74HP and 389.11 TQ. That’s a pick up of about twenty one more horsepower than stock with just a fresh air intake kit. That’s really impressive! The stock LS3 horsepower numbers are better than the stock C5 Z06 Corvette numbers. The stock C6 Z06 with the LS-7 in attendance, base lined at 446.24 HP and 415.47 TQ - wow, what great stock numbers!!! That’s about eighty five horsepower over my stock C5 Z06 LS-6. What a difference between the stock LS-6 and the LS-7.

Roger Willingham with his stock 96 C4 LT-4 has bragging rights with his .44 HP advantage over Steve Alford’s stock 96 C4 LT-4. Something tells me we will have a grudge match at the next Dyno Day. Roger’s glory may be short lived!

Showing up fashionably late to the event was none other then Bruce Carter with his newly, highly modified 2002 Z06 with its new LS-7 sitting in the engine bay. Hmmmmm, I wonder if Bruce wanted to be late as to give everyone a false sense of security with the horsepower numbers they had achieved. Bruce’s car threw down the ultimate horsepower and torque numbers with 555.23 HP and 520.90 TQ. Bruce’s numbers were achieved with a highly modified naturally aspirated LS-7. Bruce Carter wins our first Dyno Day Challenge!!! Who will win the next one???

By the end of the day about a quarter of the attendees had scheduled to have their Corvettes either tuned, modified or both at Advanced Racing Dynamics. Are they getting ready for the next Dyno Day Challenge?????

Make sure you check out the Dyno spread sheet for ALL the results.
