To Make A Long Story Short
From Your President
July 2010
Happy Independence Day! Celebrate the summertime!!
Remember, there is no meeting in July due to the July 4th Holiday, but I expect to see lots of you at the club’s 17th Birthday and July 4th Party. More on the party below!
On June 5th, Roger took us on a major pirate fest with Rum and more salt air. This time we went to the other side of Galveston Bay to Railean Rum Distillery in San Leon. Aaarrrgh Mates, Kelly Railean told us all about the process and we each got our ships ration of Railean Rum. It was a great day and a good group. We finished up by heading over to Cliftons on Galveston bay for lunch. Thanks to Jeanette and Roger for a great run!
The recent Munday Street Gathering was June 12th. We had a good group of people come out to this event. Thank you to Munday Chevrolet and Stephanie for a nice job and supply food and drink for this social evening.
Jeb and Lori Jonas lead us on the East Texas Shootout June 26th. If you missed this one, well you shouldn’t have. They always find some great roads, and this trip was no exception. We definitely let em breath and then went to the Monument Inn for some great seafood and harbor views. A big Thanks to Jeb and Lori for hosting this run!
Upcoming Events:
The annual 4th of July and Club Birthday Bash is on for Sunday July 4th, 2:00 PM. Our host is Pamela and Craig Wadham and the club will be providing BBQ as well as the sodas and water. We ask that you RSVP with our host and plan to bring a side dish or desert and come out and join us for games and good times. We are planning a treasure hunt, road run followed by some serious splashing and water fun along with traditional games. The Wadhams have a unique home with lots of patios outside and lots of room inside. The Wadhams have a family of deer that will most likely be feeding and watching us as well. This annual event brings out a large crowd so come out and join in. Adults Only Please.
We have a special Street Gathering planned for July 10th. We will be caravanning out to Prince’s Hamburgers at the Fuqua location, in South Houston. Our members Stiles and Kathy Smith will be our location host while the SHCC and Space City Corvettes will be the Co-host of the Meet and Greet. This event will be a meet and greet social as well as a wash and shine Car Show. The car show is informal, but we will be giving away some door prizes, and gift certificates. So wash up the Vette and come out to enjoy good old Prince’s Burgers, Onion Rings, Fries, or a Malt. Time 6:00 PM till ???? Make plans to join us for a trip back to Carhops and Saturday night Car meets. Please remember, we will not be at Munday Chevrolet for the July Street Meet.
On July 24th, John and Barbara Lamb will be leading us on the Crazy for Cruising Run. This run will take us out northwest and near Lake Conroe. Most of you have run some of these roads before and found them to be tree lined and curvy, as if made for cruising, so plan to join us. The Lambs have a special restaurant they have found for us. There will be plenty of paved parking and some great food, so mark this trip on your calendar.
In August, we are headed to Shiner Texas for a Shiner Bock tour. This is a little longer trip so we leave early, but there is beer involved, so I’m sure everyone can make an early start for the BEER RUN!
We are doing a great job with membership renewal. We have lots of new members and plenty of seasoned members. The SHCC does a great job of keeping a calendar full of events. I hope you find something you enjoy and want to be involved in. If you have an idea for an event or function please let a board member know. Our strength is our members and I personally thank each of you for being a member.
